Easyfix Filmglaze is a low cost, economical secondary double glazing system. It is very simple to use requiring only a sharp knife and hairdryer to install. A double sided adhesive tape is placed around the window to be glazed and the special film supplied is stuck firmly to this. With the help of a normal hair dryer the wrinkles in the film are heated out to leave a tight skin of film over the window frame.
The primary objective in any double glazing system is to trap a layer of still air between two surfaces which provides the insulation barrier.
A still air gap of 20mm is the optimum distance for this purpose.
Condensation can occur in any secondary glazing system & to reduce the risk of this it is recommended that Filmglaze be applied at the coolest part of the day.
Filmglaze can be punctured very easily, it is recommended that any puntures are quickly repaired with a small piece of sticky tape to maintain a proper insulation barrier.
If you still need to use an opening window this can be sealed individually & handles, catches, etc. can be removed & repositioned after the film has been applied.
In the event of an emergency, Filmglaze can easily & quickly be removed to enable access through the window.
